An Argentinean delegation concluded an official visit to South Korea aimed to strengthen the South American country presence in the Asian market.
The Argentinean mission held a bilateral agenda on trade and technical and phytosanitary negotiations with South Korean officials.
The delegation was headed by the Secretary of Agroindustrial Markets of the Ministry of Agroindustry, Marisa Bircher.
“We are selling grains, soybean meal, vegetable oils and fishery products, but we want to diversify with meats, fruits and processed foods,” she said.
In February, Mercosur and Korea concluded the exploratory dialogue for the establishment of a free trade zone. Also, a technological package was offered to Korea against foot-and-mouth disease outbreaks in pigs and cattle.
In 2016, the trade balance between Argentina and Korea recorded exports of US$ 860 million and imports at a similar level. Agroindustrial exports dominated the Argentinean sales, reaching US$ 740 million.
